The Land of the Freeeeee...and the Home of the Braveeee...

Listen to this while reading:  Living in the Moment - Jason Mraz

These outrageously dressed people are my friends.  And yes, I am okay to admit that publicly.  They all gathered wearing outfits of cowboys, cheerleaders, Minnie Mouse, SWAT team, Abraham Lincoln, Britney Spears, American Indians, Grid Iron players and Wonder Woman, all to celebrate my imminent departure to the Land of the Free.

These people do make it extremely difficult to get on the plane on Tuesday morning (that, and the fact my flight is at 6:15am!).  Every person gets to a certain age, when you have been living in one place for long enough to, as they say, "put down roots".  Now, for me, this was definitely unintentional.  I was simply living in Auckland to study, and three years later I have a degree and some of the best friends in the world.

That being said, I have chosen to leave these beautifully psychotic people behind and move my life to America for exactly 13 months.

How does a foreigner gain entry to USA for 13 months, I hear you ask?  Well, you just need to ask the lovely guys at IEP.  It's that simple...well, almost.
After a few hours of hoop jumping for the American Consulate (and a mind numbing amount of forms to fill out), I had my J1 Working Visa approved, and can now legally work in any of the 50 states of the Homeland!!

So from here on in people, this is business!  I arrive in Orlando at 7:35 on Tuesday night EDT, which will be 11:35am NZT Wednesday morning - so look out from then on for some pearls of wisdom from Right Where I Am Now on all things America!
