Extraordinary

Listen to this while reading: Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World

It has to be said that, no matter how much one dreams or hopes, most people's lives will be uneventful, unspectacular, unnoticeable, all rather ordinary. Not everyone can be the first, the smartest, the greatest or even just great. Some people are meant to live quiet, normal, safe, predictable, typical lives.

It is, I guess, a harsh realisation when you hit a certain age (which age specifically, no one can ever say) which group you fall into. The ordinary, or the extraordinary.

An even harder realisation to face is that you have all the means to change your life from ordinary, to extraordinary, but need only the motivation and confidence to make that change. For me, that change came over this past weekend, when I watched an ordinary event, rife with extraordinary people, unfold before my eyes.

(You'll probably need a new song by now, as Louis' masterpiece is a little on the short side: Pixies - Where is my mind?)

I am of the belief that it is irrelevant what motivation spurs you to make a change for the better, as long as it gets you there... A wise man* once said (granted on another, more philosophical topic), "There have been many ideas about the "right" Path to God. Any way you take is the way to take if it gets you where you wish to go."
And this can be a universal mantra to live by when it comes to getting where you want to go.

And thus, my motivation came from a simple weekend in Melbourne, watching Formula 1 racing. A culmination of talent, in whatever form; engineers, pit-crew, advisors, commentators, drivers...the list of specialities goes on, all of them working together to achieve a common, and most sort after goal.

So, whatever form your motivation may come in, decide: which group will you fit into, the ordinary, or the extraordinary?

*That man was Neale Donald Walsch, a brilliant author, extraordinary himself.
