In the red corner: NORTH AMERICA
Listen to this while reading: Johnny Cash - Hurt (American country music royalty performing an American industrial rock legend's track)
I have had this inherent obsession with North America for years now, drilled into me by television and movies from a young age. Having missed out on the 'Saved By The Bell' high school experience, the San Franciscan 'Full House' lifestyle and living the drama of my 20's in a Manhattan 'Sex and the City' fashion - I feel I'm going to have to take Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' point of view (or possibly Bonnie & Clyde, but without that whole 'killing a man' thing), and work out a way to traverse the country, while seeing as much as possible.
This website literally had me breathless with excitement at the possible routes to take: www.roadtripusa.com. Having said that, hitting such land marks as Niagra Falls, Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone Park, pale in comparison to the idea of visiting places infamous in my mind such as Detroit, Reno, Phoenix, Greenville, Tucson, Chicago and Seattle.

In the blue corner: AFRICA
Listening to this while reading: Best African Song Ever
I grew up in a very small town in rural New Zealand, and in my mind, there has never been a more remote place, one I was least likely to visit, as Africa. One of my best mates, Dave, gave me a brochure for Gap Adventures Africa last week and the same wave of excitement came over me looking at all the incredible options available when it came to traveling across Southern Africa.

Zanzibar
Victoria Falls, Zanzibar and the Masai Mara National Reserve are obviously high on my list of places I want to see before I die, and I feel like some sort of Safari or trek is a must. Gap Adventures offer a camping style tour from Cape Town, South Africa to Nairobi, Kenya over 40 days. Does that seem too short?
I fear a LOT more research needs to be completed!....stay tuned!
